I bought one that has a high and low setting. It was$20 on Amazon and it's definitely not damaging my hair. You don't need to spend$500 on a hair dryer. There are alternatives out there. [/quote]

I am a Dyson convert and just wanted to explain why,[i] for me[/i], a regular dryer with a low heat setting will not work.  I have thick and difficult to manage hair that loves any opportunity to frizz.  Using the low heat setting on a regular dryer is a first class ticket to a frizz fest (plus it would take FOREVER to dry).  The Dyson is low heat, but super high powered so it is able to dry quickly without as much heat.  Taking away the heat, without adding power, is counterproductive for me so putting a $20 dryer on low heat just doesn't work.  Nor does a $100, $150 or $200 (tried those too).

The Revlon One Step is horrible for thick hair - for reasons noted by PP.

On to the topic, I haven't tried the Airwrap but am very interested.  However, it has been less than a year since I got the Dyson dryer so probably not happening for me for a while.[/quote]
