One will do 9th: Biology 10th: Chemistry 11th: AP Physics 12th: ?? Possibly environmental science or computer science The other, currently in 8th grade and very into biological and environmental science had talked about... 9th: Intensified Biology 10th: intensified Chemistry 11th: AP Biology (or AP Physics if it's really essential to do physics in HS) + Animal Science 12th: AP Environmental Science + Animal Science
If a student is planning on a STEM major in college, it is essential to take physics in HS as colleges want to see all 3 major sciences on the transcript.
That's what I was figuring. I'm anticipating an argument about that in 11th-12th
If your kid drags his/her feet about wanting to take physics HS but insists that they want to major in a field that requires physics then it's time to sit down with them and show them the courses that they will need to take and pass in college. My own kid was the one who insisted on taking physics in HS, that was certainly not my idea and not something that I would have insisted on him taking. It was a legitimately difficult class.
