re: driving over the pylons …. I always make it a point to cut through the Village of Chevy Chase by driving the wrong way on a one-way for 1/2 block, in order to get from Western to Wisconsin. I do it as often as I can, actually. I figure, these particular residents of 20815 have tried to shut off their streets from cut-thru traffic, but, *they* cut through -my- DC residential neighborhood immediately south of them every single day (to get to private schools, whole foods, Rodmans …). I'm just returning the favor! and I save about 7 minutes by not suffering thru the cluster%#$ that is Friendship Heights. I encourage all of my 20015 neighbors to do the same and wave to our Maryland neighbors as we do it. Hi, guys!
Awesome. Simply awesome.
Go ahead and do this. Remember that Chevy Chase Village is its own town with its own police force. As the local cops don't have to deal with violent crime very much, most of their time is spent catching vehicle driver violations. They will be very happy to ticket you, which is revenue that goes right to the Village's bottom line.
Thank you, I will remember. They've never been able to catch me in 15 years. And just a request for you as you make your way down to St. Albans and then barre class: Remember that Chevy Chase DC residents have their own kids on bikes, dogs and joggers — just like you do in your Village idyll. It's really not appropriate for you to drive 41 mph down our residential streets in your Mercedes GLS. I'm sure that's relatable, if you look up from your phone long enough to think about it.
