This must be a sarcastic comment (or completely ignorant).  FCPS teachers are the best paid in the region - by a substantial margin when benefits including pensions are included.  And support of teachers in FCPS is generally reported to be very good in exit surveys.

They have the highest comp only when you consider the supplemental pension benefits. FCPS doesn’t do nearly as well on a take-home basis, which is why many teachers, especially those who are single and/or sole providers, leave for APS and other systems, because better retirement benefits in 30 years is only worth so much when you can barely make ends meet today.[/quote]

The teachers we know at APS (not ACPS) came from FCPS for the higher pay.
