[quote=Anonymous]I got a $5G loan from a close friend about nine mos. ago for a down payment on a car because the transmission died on my old one. With that amount as a down payment, I got a newer + better car which I will always always be grateful to “Nicole” for. I have been friends with Nic about nine yrs. & we have always gotten along like sisters. When she gave me my loan, I told her I wanted to do a promissory note, but she wouldn’t hear of it. Btw, relevant or not Nicole is very well-off while I am in a significantly (much!) lower income bracket from her. Definitely not cut from the same cloth. She was cut from cashmere..... Me?? Likely polyester. :( Well Nicole + I recently got into a fight and things got pretty ugly on both sides. It is highly unlikely our friendship will ever resume again. I have already paid Nic $2,900 of the monies back -> I still owe her $2,100 which I can pay, but in installments like I have been doing. She wrote me on Messenger that she is done with me (told you it was ugly!) and that she wanted to cease any + all contact with and regarding me. She told me to keep the money. That in the big scheme of things she would rather I keep it & stay away vs. sending her personal checks. She told me that $2G isn’t even a hole in her bank account so it won’t be missed. I told her that I could never ever not return her money back. That she saved my butt and I will be indebted to her for the opportunity she allowed me. I told her whether she liked it or not, I would send the remaining loan in checks to her address. She told me to keep the $$ and that she forgives the loan completely. And if I mail her checks after her telling me not to do so, then that is a form of harassment and she would report me. *ALL OF THIS CONVERSATION IN WRITING. My Mom says to just do what she says, that even if she changes her mind later on, since I have a written account from her that the loan is forgiven then she cannot sue me later on. I feel conflicted > What would YOU do?? .........................................................
