Looking at last 3 years of data for 4th grade, I think it's a long shot. I think they probably lose more students after 1st and 2nd, and backfill more significantly at 3rd. (From this table https://public.tableau.com/profile/aaron2446#!/vizhome/MSDCSeatsandWaitlistOfferData/MSDCPublicDisplay) 2017-18 2 seats were available initially, 4 people on WL got calls by Oct 2016-17 2 seats were available initially, 4 on WL got calls by Oct 2015-16 2 seats were available initially, 2 on WL got calls by Oct
Why do kids leave after 1st and 2nd?
We left because the teachers and principal at that time didn’t seem up to the task of helping ALL children enrolled there, and it seemed the ones who could learn on their own were the only ones who succeeded. There were behavior issues abound, and little to no learning going on because of it. But worse, no one seemed to care. We left for private.
What grade? Controlling a class of second graders is far more difficult than 4th graders.
I think knowing when is more important than what grade. The newest principal came on 3 years ago, right? But it makes a difference in terms of the culture of the school whether this was 3 or 6 or 10 years ago. Please respond PP.
