Because he doesn’t exist. Gods were created by man many years ago to explain the unknown. But now we know better. Belief in god is really an anachronism.
Who is the "we" you are referring to who know better? The 3.1 percent of the population who are atheists but clearly are sufficiently superior to speak for everyone else?
We the people who believe in science. We know about the solar system now. Diseases. Weather. Etc. We don’t need to explain these things with something else.
For example, earthquakes were caused by various gods/monsters before we had a better understanding of geology: http://www.bgs.ac.uk/discoveringGeology/hazards/earthquakes/mythsAndLegends.html “Traditional stories from China and India suggest that the Earth is held up by several elephants that stand on the back of a turtle. The turtle is balanced on top of a cobra. When any of these animals move, the Earth trembles and shakes.” “Stories are told of Poseidon striking the ground with this trident, which triggered earthquakes.” “In the Pacific North West, traditional stories speak of shaking and flooding from the sea by referring to a struggle between a large bird, the Thunderbird, and a whale. ”
