Test scores are the beginning and end at my Title One school. Every piece of data is another source of how crappy the teachers are. Past admins have had no issue just yelling at us about how we are letting our students down. I doubt my friends in the county schools get yelled at for their data.
This is my experience at a Title 1 school, too.
There should be a way to test teachers who can't teach. There are some great teachers, but the bad ones can really hurt a student. Not just that year but in subsequent years. How else could you identify these teachers? If there is a problem with what the school is teaching or students learning that can be fixed. If there is a problem with the teacher that can be fixed. All professions have a measuring stick to test performance. If your data is bad do something to fix it-that means something wrong. All kids deserve a good education.
