This is my experience at a Title 1 school, too.

There should be a way to test teachers who can't teach. There are some great teachers, but the bad ones can really hurt a student. Not just that year but in subsequent years. How else could you identify these teachers? If there is a problem with what the school is teaching or students learning that can be fixed. If there is a problem with the teacher that can be fixed. All professions have a measuring stick to test performance. If your data is bad do something to fix it-that means something wrong. All kids deserve a good education.

Are teachers behind the growth model verses achievement model or do they see that also as too much a reflection on them?

Are you not at a county school?

We haven't done anything with IReady scores yet. I know there are plans to sit down and review them after the second window. We certainly don't ever get yelled at for them. Admin has always stood with a, "It's just one piece of data" stance. With that said, there is really no other test data to go over to this point.

Not agreeing—I’ve seen enough examples of teachers being compared, praised, or their expertise questioned based on ecart or SOL scores.

Perhaps this is more prevalent at Title 1 Schools.

Depends on the principal and school. IReady is a very poor test. It is heavily language based and confusing. They do math all theoretically and not how it is taught. I had to reread several times to figure out what they getting at and I’m not eight years old.
