This is correct. I lived in Harlem for 10 years and I never came into direct contact with crime other than having my car broken into. As in any big city you will want to keep your guard up and protect your belongings. Be very smart and aware at all times.

The Alexander Hamilton House is located in Saint Nicholas Park. You will want to catch the C train to 135th Street Station and go out of the north end exit. Turn and walk up the hill.  If it is a Sunday and they are doing track work then you will need to catch the A train to 145th Street and walk back toward [b]City College[/b] (just ask the locals). You can also catch the IRT and get off at City College station then walk east. While you are in the area I suggest you go farther north and check out the Morris-Jumel Mansion. If you get to the Bronx you should check out the Bartow-Pell Mansion. Have fun! I wish I could be your tour guide!

Don't forget to hit 125th Street for the vibrant street culture and shopping. Stop into Marcus Samuelsson's Red Rooster on a Monday night for live music. Enjoy![/quote]

Walk through the CCNY campus.  It's small, but has some beautiful architecture (ignore the 80's buildings, lol).
Also, Hamilton's house was moved from it's original location a few years back.  It's amazing how they did it, check out the youtube videos (and be sure to look at the "ghost" outline of the house in its old/original location).[/quote]
