My driver's side mirror is banged up, so I planned to buy the whole part online and DH was going to remove/install, but not sure if it's worth the time and effort for him to get around to it. If I have the part, can I take it somewhere for someone to install? Like a regular mechanic? The installation requires removing the inside door panel to reach the electronics/bolts for the side mirror. Do I have to find a body shop specifically and will a body shop use my part or want to order their own brand new part? There's also a dent in the side panel that a body shop will likely want to fix too, but not sure if I care about fixing it right now and having to pay for it, so I think this will also make them unhappy about doing the side mirror job. Or are there techs I can find that will freelance and where?
I had my auto repair shop do it for me. I think it was around $150. It worked out. I've also taken it to the dealer and they did it for me. I've had two side mirrors taken out because of my narrow garage. I ordered the part online. But I think the dealer would have done that for me. I think it's worth it take to someone to do. It seems complicated and better to pay the money.
By auto repair shop, you mean a regular mechanic right? Like the same one that would do an oil change or other services, not specifically a body shop?
