Otherwise, you're basically admitting that some guy with greasy hands who never went to college is smarter than you.
Funny thing is, in many ways auto mechanics are smarter than you - even if they didn't go to college.
It's a matter of time and effort. Sure, my hubby can do it after a few YouTube clips and when he's on leave in two weeks. But will it take him 3 hours and some cursing at the stupid plastic clips vs 1 hour from an experienced mechanic next week?
Thanks everyone!
Yes, that would be my DH cursing and breaking plastic clips. Would not be worth the angst.

If I have the part, can I take it somewhere for someone to install? Like a regular mechanic? The installation requires removing the inside door panel to reach the electronics/bolts for the side mirror. Do I have to find a body shop specifically and will a body shop use my part or want to order their own brand new part? There's also a dent in the side panel that a body shop will likely want to fix too, but not sure if I care about fixing it right now and having to pay for it, so I think this will also make them unhappy about doing the side mirror job. Or are there techs I can find that will freelance and where?
I had my auto repair shop do it for me. I think it was around $150. It worked out. I've also taken it to the dealer and they did it for me. I've had two side mirrors taken out because of my narrow garage. I ordered the part online. But I think the dealer would have done that for me. I think it's worth it take to someone to do. It seems complicated and better to pay the money.
By auto repair shop, you mean a regular mechanic right? Like the same one that would do an oil change or other services, not specifically a body shop?
