Futsal as a weekend activity offers little benefit unless you are practicing futsal during the week. It is a differnt sport with a differnent ball.
Depends on your goals. Are you looking to become a Professional Futsal player or are you looking at it as a fun winter activity to improve your individual ball skill (which Futsal games do) and quickness? My kids always use different size balls in training---even much smaller than a Futsal ball--juggling, playing each other in the basement, etc. Futsal games are a great way to play with zero pressure in the off-season and be CREATIVE. We don't use them to develop a future Futsal champion, just for fun and as a supplement to outdoor soccer. I feel if we added weekly practices all winter it would become one very long year-round season. Even professionals have an off-season. Studies bear out that this mental and physical break is much-needed. That doesn't mean individual training or play isn't going on, btw.
