We enjoy the futsal program run by CSC (Chantilly Soccer Club). The Saturday afternoon games are held at Cassel's Sports Complex. We'll be returning as a U13 rec player this year.

Are you looking to become a Professional Futsal player or are you looking at it as a fun winter activity to improve your individual ball skill (which Futsal games do) and quickness?

My kids always use different size balls in training---even much smaller than a Futsal ball--juggling, playing each other in the basement, etc.

Futsal games are a great way to play with zero pressure in the off-season and be CREATIVE. We don't use them to develop a future Futsal champion, just for fun and as a supplement to outdoor soccer.

I feel if we added weekly practices all winter it would become one very long year-round season.

Even professionals have an off-season. Studies bear out that this mental and physical break is much-needed. That doesn't mean individual training or play isn't going on, btw.

First Touch Futsal was well run and with good opposition and challenging games.

I agree. That place is NASTY. Smells like pizza and feet. However, there are many other futsal leagues!! Metro Fustal League uses excellent facilities!

that place is gross. we decline any party invite there because it is dirty and there is no supervision.

OP here - we live in Alexandria and so were going to do ASA Futsal.

Futsal is great for developing foot skills since it is a small space and the ball moves faster. It is good for learning ball control.

Our travel team plays but it is definitely more lowkey and seen as a fun thing to do. We play a variety of travel and rec teams and it has been good.

I was thinking of signing my son (a U9 rec player) up for the winter futsal season. We've never done it before. He enjoys playing regular soccer, and is averagely good at it. Was wondering what the benefits/detriments of trying Futsal might be. My only concern is that where we live, travel and rec kids do the Futsal program together, so not sure he would enjoy it as much as regular rec soccer, where his teammates/opponents are not as serious about it and just playing for fun.
