I think our city uses "federal oversight" as an excuse to not identify and plug gaps. At the same time, our Councilmembers propose laws such as paying criminals and we have rehabilitation legislation for youth offenders that offers them impunity to reoffend WITHOUT meaningful rehabilitation (just warehousing). This is ON our politicians, at the end of the day the buck stops there. I feel for you for your move. It will be nice too live someplace where efforts to create safety and good services are in place.[/quote]
