There are multiple levels of testing. You determine what kind of testing to get based on your concerns. On another thread, an OP was looking strictly looking to get an ADHD diagnosis. That's cheap as a primary care physician can do it based on symptoms. If you suspect learning disabilities, you'll want more comprehensive testing that is generally sufficient for run-of-the-mill LDs and only cost about $1500. If you have more complex set of LDs and need to tease out sub-components of memory and processing, that's going be in the $3,000-5,000 range. Most kids don't 'need' the more expensive testing but parents will get it because it provides so much more information. [/quote]
