My DS was also about 2 years 9 months when he started the FCPS special ed preschool. Because he was in the non-categorical program and not the Autism program, he only went half a day in the afternoon. The school bus picked him up at his private preschool/daycare for the afternoon program and then brought him back. Our private preschool/daycare had no issue with the pick up/drop off. We had a great experience with the special ed preschool and I would strongly encourage you to do it if you've been offered a spot.
OP here, Does he need a nap when he joins ECCB, the afternoon session? My son will be 2 years and 4 months by this September. He definitely needs a nap, so i dont think he can take the afternoon session.
yeah, that was tough. He was definitely still napping when he started. We tried adjusting the nap time but ended up putting him to bed at night later, getting him up later and letting him have a 1 hour nap after he came home. After a couple months, he gave up the nap completely. We didn't have a choice which session to put him in. The non-cat classroom was only in the afternoon.
