I delivered at GW in June- no nursery. I'm surprised at the PP who said she didn't feel like they checked on the baby. That was completely the opposite of my experience. I didn't get much sleep but that was because of the endless rotation of people coming in to check on me and the baby. You can set up "do not disturb" hours which were helpful to minimize the interruptions (medications and doctors still came, but the cleaning people, volunteers and catering did not).
18:56 here. I am not kidding when I say that no one checked on me or the baby between 7pm shift change and 7am shift change. I went looking for my nurse several times in the night.
19:50 here. That's INSANE. I was honestly looking forward to going home so I could get some rest instead to the constant interruptions of nurses (for me and baby, lactation consultants, my OB, pediatrician, hearing test, another nurse for blood draw for babies testing), volunteers (I kid you not, there were volunteers giving our smoothies that came by. An hour later someone came by to make sure the volunteers has offered me a smoothie  ) and hospital staff (cleaning/trash removal 1x a day, someone from Dining Services, someone to collect food trays, etc.) I can't understand how care could differ so much- thats quite scary!
