When I was a kid in the Midwest, shorts and sandals at school were a big no-no, but I can't seem to find anywhere on our elementary school website that addresses dress code. It's obviously still pretty warm here during the last week of August. Does anyone know if these are allowed? This is for a rising Kindergartner. We wouldn't send her in flip-flops, but she does have a nice pair of fisherman-style sandals that she wears with almost everything in the summer. thx
Shorts a no-no?? Eeks! They are definitely allowed at FCPS elementary schools. The student handbook does have the dress code, but I don't know if that's online or not. Sandals are ok, but they do ask on PE days that they wear proper athletic shoes. Your daughter might not want to wear sandals on a daily basis anyway, depending on how the playground is done. Ours is mulched and my kids only wear running shoes; even then, the mulch gets into their socks.
