Psychiatrist but she also did talk therapy (he chose female over male,). When DS was born, DH realized that he had a lot of issues from his parents. He was also going through a stressful time with work and was feeling depressed. Did a short course on antidepressants (ended up being allergic to it when they upped the dose at 3 weeks and didn't like side effects from other meds) and talk therapy. It was amazingly helpful. I'm very glad and thankful that DH was able to get help
Thank you for giving me hope, PP! Spouse is from a very (very) old fashioned, paternalistic, non-sensical background - needs someone to talk to, needs to own his sh!t (needs someone to hold him accountable that he does not have a perfect family, nor does anyone), then get on with it, so to speak. Do you have a recommendation on person or product?
Does your spouse recognize this and agree he needs to talk to someone? Because if not, therapy tends to not work well. And sorry, we lived near Boston at the time.
