Boring, devoid of culture, and rich in traffic. Wegman's will be the center of your universe. Since there is a Tysons commute in your household, consider the area around Hunter Mill Rd. Close to Tysons, solidly suburban, but much more accessible to DC, Tysons, Reston, etc. In Ashburn you're only close to Leesburg, Dulles Town Center, and that unfinished Loudoun Town Center (the place with the Uncle Julios and a few other restaurants surrounded by parking lots and new construction residences on tiny lots) apparent failure.
I LOVE the town of Leesburg! Such great restaurants and bars, plus I love first Fridays. Yes, I will haul my ass all the way over there for pizza at Fireworks and then drinks on the "beach" at MacDowells. I live in Vienna, like you suggest, but what strikes me as funny about you post the most among all of the baseless statements is please explain to me exactly WHAT culture one can find in Vienna? and your statement about traffic, the one thing that drives me insane about Vienna is the traffic. Getting around town is an absolute disaster. My sister lives in Ashburn so we spend a lot of time out there (she has the big party house) and by far getting from point A to B is so much easier in Ashburn than Vienna. We live in Vienna becuase we purchased here years ago, my kids are entrenched in sports/schools here and our mortgage is very low, so we stay. But please do, explain to me the cultural sites and activities I should be enjoying in Vienna, I must have missed them. And talk about UGLY and horrible planning, don't get me started on Tysons. I think we can all agree that Tysons is a great place to find employment, but that is about it.
