Since there is a Tysons commute in your household, consider the area around Hunter Mill Rd. Close to Tysons, solidly suburban, but much more accessible to DC, Tysons, Reston, etc.
In Ashburn you're only close to Leesburg, Dulles Town Center, and that unfinished Loudoun Town Center (the place with the Uncle Julios and a few other restaurants surrounded by parking lots and new construction residences on tiny lots) apparent failure.

My SIL lives in one of those new planned communities and it's an ugly construction site now but it will be awesome to walk to everything (school, pool, grocery) when it's done. A lot of people on DCUM will knock the housing as ugly but it's no different than most of Nova (no hate, I live here too.). Ashburn gets a lot of wind, more than Tysons.
And lots of BWI airplane noise.
I think you mean Dulles noise. That's what would hold me back. I have a friend who lives there in a terrific community, but when the planes fly overhead, it's deafening.
Again, depends on where you are. Ashburn Farm poster here and i jever hear them, but when i go to thr Lifetime gym i feel like they are landungbin my head. Ashburn is huge. Probably 7 miles end to end.
