I think parts of it are OK now and a lot of it will be really nice in 10 years when the development fills in and the new trees have matured. My SIL lives in one of those new planned communities and it's an ugly construction site now but it will be awesome to walk to everything (school, pool, grocery) when it's done. A lot of people on DCUM will knock the housing as ugly but it's no different than most of Nova (no hate, I live here too.). Ashburn gets a lot of wind, more than Tysons.
REALLY depends on where you live. I'm in Ashburn Farm (older part of Ashburn). I love where I live because i have bike trails connecting everything including the WOD, my kids walk to all 3 schools (elementary, middle, high), I have 2 grocery stores i walk to, a few restaurants and regularly bike with the family to clydes. I also have a tennis court i can pratically spit at, plus we can bike to our neighborhood pools. Itbis very nice now as my kids are tweens that they can get themselves around without needungbis to chauffeur them. However, I'd be MISERABLE if i lived anywhere near Loudoun Valley, and Loudoun County parkway (AKA data center alley) because there is absolutely no where to go on foot or bike.
