I've actually seen a couple of cases like this and the nice but awkward guy always gets dumped and left without his kids with limited visitation OR he gets dumped and gets full custody of the kids while she goes off to sleep with Mr. Right hoping to have kids with him.  If she doesn't, she'll contest and try to win back her kids from backup dude.[/quote]
