I smell things cooking!!

Okay, here's my take on the situation. This woman just got dumped. She was either in a LTR and got dumped because she wasn't the right one or she was in a string of short relationships and keeps getting dumped. She's in her 30's and desparate. She wants the guy to take care of her, to have a family and she set herself a set of goals, none of which she's met. Her biological clock is ticking. She wants to start anew, so she has this city she wants to go to, but she's desparate, so she calls up her "backup plan" who is the guy who she knows crushed on her in college and hasn't gotten anywhere. She wants him to come to new city, be her BF, and fallback husband to have her kids while she keeps searching for her right guy. If/when she finds it, she'll dump backup dude and settle down with Mr. Right and her kids.

I've actually seen a couple of cases like this and the nice but awkward guy always gets dumped and left without his kids with limited visitation OR he gets dumped and gets full custody of the kids while she goes off to sleep with Mr. Right hoping to have kids with him. If she doesn't, she'll contest and try to win back her kids from backup dude.

Is this one of those stories that ends with him waking up in a bathtub filled with ice, with a message written on the wall that says "CALL 911 AND TELL THEM THAT YOU MISPLACED ONE OF YOUR KIDNEYS."

Yeah, help him out because she sounds shady.

tell him to not move for this person. But honestly, i can see why he hasn't had luck if he is going to fall for something like this. he is very naive.

You had better break this down for him very clearly, because with the profile you mentioned he's likely an Aspie type that doesn't understand subtle hints. My husband and son are like this, I need to be very direct if I want them to understand a social problem.

Really REALLY odd

A good friend is very awkward and has terrible luck with women. Mid-30s and has never had an actual relationship, but he tries very hard.

A women he went to college with and hasn't heard from in years suddenly reached back out to him. She dropped hints about wanting a better job and to move across the country to a somewhat expensive area. Then she started sending him job postings in that area. Now she has flat out asked him if he'll move there with her, because she "swore she would only move if a good friend went with her".

The whole thing seems super sketchy, but he's already crushing on her hard. I suspect she's leading him on and looking for someone to pay her way for awhile, and once they move there, she'll go off and do her own thing (e.g. see other guys) while he's stuck paying for the rent.

Would you also find this really odd? I can't imagine ever asking a guy I went to college with and barely knew to move with me.
