Those teachers know what to do and make it work. If it is straight LD and you have the option of getting tutoring that is a much better use of the kid's time. Otherwise the teacher is a stranger and she will only focus on what is on the IEP while giving busywork the rest of the time. They all have different goals and different data that needs collecting, so that's all the teacher has time for. Plus the bus rides are long and then add in time for everyone to eat breakfast. I have taught it a lot. It won't hurt your kid, but if you have another option with rich, hands-on learning activities, or outside play, and can afford tutoring, do it.

Other kids in the county get cool science or drama programs. Our kids get drill and kill with no paper. Two boxes of crayons for 12 kids to share, and 3 glue sticks for the whole month. No library access or Smartboards.[/quote]
