- Downton Abbey; total mustsee if you haven't already. 
- Mercy Street; takes place in Alexandria during the Civil War, focuses on many aspects of the war but is centered around a Union hospital (obviously, some violence/discussion of violence is presence due to the nature of war)
- Indian Summers; takes place in 1930s India, focuses on the wealthy British ruling class and the increasingly revolutionary Indians that serve them (be warned, some sex scenes)
- The Durrells of Corfu; beautiful show, no need to worry about awkward moments. Only one season so far, though!
- Victoria; great look at an earlier British queen that draws many parallels to The Crown. Just finishing up its first season. 
- Doctor Thorne; short and sweet miniseries based off the book
- Poldark; great show with great characters. Except some raunchier scenes though
- Land Girls; interesting series taking place during WW2. Not violent and worth a watch.
