We did the volcano tour.  At the time (2 or 3 years ago?) you couldn't take a helicopter.  We walked 2 miles across a lava field to the staging area, and then hiked up to the crater and took a thing like window washers stand on to go down into the volcano.  The weather was horrendous even in July (freezing, 50 mph winds).  I seriously thought I was going to be blown off the mountain when we were climbing to the crater.  It was definitely an unforgettable experience, but it wasn't my favorite thing to do in Iceland.[/quote]
