Have you ever been in a physical fight? How old were you (a young child, a teenager, an adult)? If you were older, why did you resort to physical violence?
Now, as an adult, would you ever physically fight someone? If another adult hit you first, would you hit back? |
Yes, I was in a fight once, in high school... I was 16 years old I think. I was being a bitch and excluding a girl from our clique and she got medieval on my ass in the hallway at school. She shoved me up against the lockers and my sweater got caught on the metal doors and started unraveling. I had to defend myself and hit her back! There was no winner b/c a teacher broke it up.
I would never start a fist fight (then or now). I really abhor violence. But yes, if it happened now (God forbid) I would defend myself. |
Yeah, as an adult, but I took three punches before I fought back. At some point, what are you going to do? |
I went after my brother in law when he went after my sister in front of me. He grabbed her, held her down by her shoulders and was screaming and pulling his arm back to hit her when I ran over and jumped on him. I think he was so shocked that a girl came after him that it broke him from his rage long enough to call me a crazy bitch and walk out the front door. I was about 20 at the time. She has since left him, though it took her a few more years.

Good that she left him. He is a coward. |
yes, when I was 14. A girl picked a fight with me over some stupid rumor in HS. So she swung, I swung, we wrestled for awhile and then I threw her in the trash can before the principal walked in.
And then I had to spend a whole 2 days with her in ISS. Torture! As an adult, I would not go looking for trouble or hang around it. But if someone hit me, I would no doubt defend myself. |
LOL good story. And I like how you incorporated "got medieval on my ass." I may have to follow you down the path to bringing that one back. I have been in a few fights, but none of them voluntarily except once when I punched a guy in the face after he grabbed my ass at a night club. I knocked him flat on his back and he got up and tried to go for the guy who was standing next to me. He couldn't believe it when his friends told him that I was the one who knocked him down. He called me the C word and then got kicked out. The bouncer saw the whole thing and then started letting me into the club for free after that, calling me "Rocky." I'm a total wimp and those were beer muscles, but it sure was fun. |
Yes, last year. It was me, DH and his friend. Nope, I'm not proud of it.
We were in a bar in Dupont and a guy grabbed my ass. I looked back at him and yelled WHAT XXXXXXXX IS WRONG WITH YOU? DH asked me WHAT DID HE DO? I looked at the guy and said HE GRABBED MY ASS and the guy started swinging his wrist in the air trying to punch whoever was in his way. DH got punched on the face and our friend punched the guy. I grabbed the guys glasses and he grabbed my wrist and twisted it. I bit him on the chest area as hard as I could and he punched me on the face. He yelled asking for his glasses and I threw it on the floor and told him GO GET IT YOU BASTARD! and as he bent to pick it up I stepped on the glasses and kicked him on the face. Security came and threw him out. I don't even recall where DH or his friend were at the time!! I was soooooooooooooo mad!!!! |
Wow. |
Do siblings count? My sister and I are a year apart and beat the bejesus out of each other on a regular basis from about age 8 til I was 17 and she left for college. We're BFF's now and talk on the phone every day. We've had many conversations about WTF was wrong with our mom that she let us do that?????? |
I slapped a mean girl across the face when I was 11. She slapped me back. I walked off. |
In college got into a fight with a drunk roommate who wanted to drive. It was really more of a wrestle.

What would you do if someone was picking on someone else in front of you? Would you help the victim or stay out of it?
Last year a fight broke out on the metro, literally right in front of me. A young troublemaker kept taunting a boy sitting right in front of me. The boy tried to ignore him and laugh it off, but the troublemaker persisted and started taking swings. It escalated from there but everyone on the train was frozen, for fear one of them might be armed. I wanted to step in, wishing I had Bruce Lee skills, but kept thinking of my kids and stayed out of it. Luckily the train stopped and the boy escaped. |
I'm such a laid back person but just to think of that day makes my blood boil!!! It was the only time in my adult life getting physical. Most of my fights happened with my brother, we would get in trouble and help each other ![]() |
When I was in juior high school a guy about my size, which is not big, with two big friends used to picked on me for over a year. I finally had enough and slamed him into a wall and offered to fight him right there and then. There was never a problem after that.
When I went to high school I enountered a guy who was much biger than me, had a reputation for being a bully at his junior high school and who started making the types of comments that I knew from experience would lead to me being harassed by this guy in the future if I didn't do anything. One day he made a comment while we were leaving class so I stopped and punched him right in the face. I got two more punches in before he recovered. At that point I was pretty much in a duck and cover mode and he began pumeling me until a teacher stepped in and pulled him off me. When we were in the principal's office, the other guy said that I started the fight. I denyed it. and then I looked the principal directly in his eyes and said, "seriously, why would I start a fight with someone so much bigger than me?" At that point I was excussed as the principal said, "I think I know what happened here." The next time I saw him he started in with the normal threats and I told him, go ahead and hit me, and from now on I will sucker punch you every chance I get and no one will ever believe you when you say I'm picking on you, or we can just stay out of each other's way. He did not hit me and I never had a problem with him, or anyone, again. |
