Golden Boot Soccer has just launched several Zoom-based options, including free trial classes this coming Monday, May 18: https://www.goldenbootsoccer.com/virtual-training.html
1:30-2:20 (best for ages 7-8) 3:00-3:50 (best for ages 9+) The live classes will be taught by our positive, engaging, professional trainers and are designed for small spaces, indoors or out. Kids won't need any special equipment beyond sneakers/cleats and a soccer ball to work on things such as conditioning, ball mastery, dribbling, 1v1 moves and more. If your players enjoy themselves, we'd love to see them again! We're offering Tuesday/Thursday group sessions at the same times for the next four weeks, and can also put together custom virtual training programs for teams, small groups, or individuals. Please see https://www.goldenbootsoccer.com/virtual-training.html for more details and registration links, or contact me in the office at 703-287-0088 or info[at]goldenbootsoccer[dot]com Please feel free to spread the word to friends, neighbors, and teammates who might also be interested. Hang in there, fellow parents! We're all doing the best we can right now. - Amanda in the Golden Boot office |
| First post someone has put a name on |
Hi, PP, it’s GBS’ Amanda here again. If I’m posting about the company and our offerings, I’ll identify myself — I think it’s only right to be transparent about that. We’re lucky to have families who are kind enough to occasionally recommend us on here; if you see a post like that, please know that it’s not a sock puppet. We don’t play games (except for soccer). A quick follow-up to my original post: Our trial sessions today are full, but we still have space in our Tuesday/Thursday 4-week program that starts tomorrow. You would need to pay the registration fee to join, but if your player doesn’t feel like the class is a good fit after the first session, please contact the office and we’ll happily process a full refund. |
| That’s crazy. I’m not paying for this. |

You can't be serious? Why not just offer this shit for free? I will literally go on Youtube and cut +paste video clips and organize a virtual ball mastery session that will be free and actually functional and give it out to everyone. Can't stand orgs trying to profit off of COVID. The correct way to do this is offer free sessions throughout COVID then after things get back to normal, you will have a loyal customer base.
You're welcome for the golden business advice. |
Well, this golden boot session is interactive. My child did the free class. The coaches talked to the kids by name, so there is the personal touch, and also accountability. We have tried YouTube training, but my kid complains and quits after 5 minutes. I don’t know that we will sign up, but I think they are offering a useful service while we’re all stuck at home. |
| Also, I wouldn't say that Golden Boot is trying to profit off of COVID--they are a company that provides soccer training. So, much like a restaurant offering takeout instead of its usual dine-in offering, Golden Boot is trying to offer virtual training to both help its coaches stay employed AND to help its clients. It's a great company with solid programming and fantastic coaches, and the owner is just phenomenal. If my kids didn't have zoom practices through their travel teams right now, we would absolutely do some training, and will definitely look into this over the summer. Yes, there is a ton of free stuff on the internet, and even more subscription options. But having the interaction with a coach and feedback is something that my kids need and welcome. |
Soooo... where’s your session? Oh, wait... |
Here’s some golden business advice: learn something about business and people before you spout off. Perhaps a little less time on the pitch, a little more time in the classroom when you were younger would have helped. I’ve know Tamir for five years and he has gone out of his way to help hundreds of kids as part of his coaching business and outside of it. He has done a lot more than offer rambling, unsolicited advice online through a name that essentially makes you anonymous but purports to credentialize. Button up and go back to community college to wrap up your degree before opining about people and topics you don’t know. |
You're a loyal customer to him because he has gone out of his way to help. I'm with you on that one. I just don't think trying to advertise on this forum is too good of a look. |
I'll have to make something up and post it on an anon source. |
I’m not a Goldenboot customer ... but why isn’t it a good look? If it me not something you are interested in, then skip over it. Others may be interested. If it’s something someone may be interested in, then great! My daughter is doing virtual training through her travel club. Having those interactive sessions with her team and coach are way more engaging and effective than YouTube videos. If YouTube videos engage some kids, then that’s great. Why begrudge someone who may be up for something different? |

My DD is enjoying virtual more than I expected - seeing and competing with the other kids. We can't wait to be back on the field, but better than nothing right now. |
Bankruptcy isn't too good of a look either. There's nothing wrong with a business trying to make an honest buck. Being adaptable and trying to find ways to continue to operate is not "trying to profit off of Covid." It's just trying to survive. |
