| UVA; both are good state universities, but UVA's student body is stronger academically. UNC has severely capped OOS admissions. |

| If UNC is in state and UVA is OOS, the two schools are roughly equal so go with the cheaper one. If both are OOS, you're paying bank anyway so go with the one you love. |

| UVA. UNC’s state system is a mess. UVA also has a larger proportion of out-of-state students, meaning the student body is more geographically diverse. |

| OP, would you mind sharing if your DC has been accepted to both? My DC is a junior and is interested in UNC and UVA, as well. We are also OOS. As a complete outsider to both schools, I'm always curious to read the opinions posted. Thank you! |

I don't think I'd pay OOS tuition for either. There are many academically comparable private schools where you'll be able to pay less -- and your kid will get more personal attention. |
