I hate FB for many of the reasons mentioned above. I closed my account months ago and have yet to regret it. |
I am a guy and need some translation. How is two people writing in to say someone is beautiful turn into a bad thing? |
you're better out of it. don't even try to understand for your own sanity! |
My facebook isn't like high school at all.... you know why? Because I've ignored the friend requests of all the gals who were mean to me back then! I've accepted maybe a half-dozen friend requests from that time of my life-- Only people I was actually friends with and have actually wanted to reconnect with sometime since then. It's a high-schoolish behaviors (trying to be seen as having lots of friends) that leads to the high-school dynamic some people report. |
I haven't had that catty experience of FB like OP posted, but that is probably because I don't have too many FB friends. The thing I don't like about FB is that I feel like I keep living in the past whenever I see stuff about people I knew so long ago. But FB has helped me connect with relatives overseas that I normally wouldn't have connected with otherwise. So that part makes it more worthwhile to me.
You can just go online less often, OP. Or, actually what you can do is block people that aren't your friends, and then I believe that you will never see their posts to your friend's account. Also, I "hide" the posts of of FB friends from long ago whose posts and pics I don't want to keep seeing. And I make it so that they can't see my updates. |
Wish I could live in your world... Peaceful. ![]() |
I hae really been having a great time reconnecting with people on facebook. I have become friends with people from HS that I was only friendly with. I was very shy when I was in school and I am so glad that I am now able to get to know people I wasn't able to know back then. |
OP, don't sweat the other friend's comment. It's okay to give someone a compliment.
I love FB. I'm on it right now stealing my instructor friends' choreography : ) |
