I completely agree.

Along those lines, WTF is up with "I Just Wanna F&*@ Every Girl in the World"??? Really?? Why is that song even played on the radio?? Am I the only one who thinks it's completely ridiculous. Someone has to tell me what the redeeming qualities of this song is.

(sorry, rant over)

Does anyone know why snl had a musical performance over the end credits instead of the usual host-waiving-goodbye thing?

i don't think fergie can hold a candle to gwen stefani in anyway--creatively, musically, physically. but in the woman's defense, she did not pee her pants. she has stated that is was sweat and i understand that because it happens to me when i exercise and it's a bit embarrassing.

The BEP's are talented. I especially loved them in the pre-Fergie days before they were so commercial. But she does add an element to the group that is working very well. They may be a bit weird, but so are many artists across the arts. They're very successful and should keep doing exactly what they're doing.

"the general state of retail music in this country-the best thing you can say about BEP's, Kanye, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Justin, Lady Gaga and Madonna (yes, I said Madonna) and all the other top earning top forty performers is that they excell in mediocrity."

I'm the OP. See that's the thing. I am something of a music snob but I'd say all of those singers, guilty pleasures or not, are much better at what they do than the black eyed peas. The song writing is bad, the singing is bad, and the lyrics are terrible. Not clever, not cute, not funny, not edgy, not poignant, not meaningful, just remarkably uninspired.

Case in point:

I said wassup. I said wassup wassup wassup wassup wassup (ad nauseum) wassup.

Yeah, no shit holmes, we heard you!

To the person who said they're just not for my "age group," I disagree. Many pop singers are not for "me," but that does not make me incapable of discerning crap from CRAP.

"Such a lady but I'm dancing like a hoe." . . . yeah, very inspired Fergie.

She's ok. They are ok. Like some of their songs for mindless singing in the car or whatever. Not much else, however.

I'm also kind of a music snob but there is still a lot of pop music that I can appreciate. The Black Eyed Peas are not a group that I can appreciate. They are not good.

I actually think Fergie can sing, but for some reason she just chooses to only sing terrible songs.

I agree about "wassup wassup wassup", but "boom boom boom", now THAT's inspired.

Sorry. But wtf does "Im a _ Snob" even mean?? Who deems themself a "Snob" of anything? Does that mean you listen to music and now you THINK your opinion is the classiest opinion ever?

According to Urban Dictionary: A specimen that is prone to be of high levels of irritance to the normal person. In general, they hold the belief that their musical taste and their musical taste alone is relevant while anyone who has opposing or different opinions on music is considered stupid and won't hesitate to spew snotty remarks at you. These people are often pretentious poseurs who always make an ass out of themselves as they claim to be "non-conformist" for listening to indie bands with quirky names who have song titles that are at least ten words in length. The funny thing is, is that they don't realize that they are actually the biggest conformers out there for listening to, or claiming to listen to certain bands or genres in order to fit into a certain scene or gain some cred.

Pretentious poseur: All the bands I listen to are known by fewer than 100 people and you can't find their albums in stores, so that totally means I have a better taste in music than everyone! I'm so HxC!

PP, I'm the OP and the first one who claimed music "snob"dom. To elucidate, deeming oneself a snob of the musical variety IS generally someone's tongue in cheek and self-deprecating way of indicating we do think our taste in music is better than most.

Your overlong borrow from urbandictionary, above, is outdated by many years, by the way. Everyone knows the REAL music snobs don't bother with indie bands anymore, since indie is mainstream now and it's actually more "alternative" to claim to enjoy pop music. Hipsters LOVE Justin Timberlake.

In my case, I tend not to enjoy most of the new music I hear. But that's because most of it is not terribly good and also because I personally was in bands for the better part of the last 2 decades and none of my bands ever made it out of indie rock (think touring Japan, but sleeping on sofas) status to Indie Rock (think annoying chicks in annoying movies mentioning one of your songs by name).

But the Black Eyed Peas are truly scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Yes, "music snob" is obviously tongue-in-cheek and self-deprecating. Did someone really have to look that up in Urban Dictionary?! And get offended by it? People here will get mean about everything!

Kanye West does not sing well but he writes nice lyrics -- Gold Digger will certainly become a pop classic. Fergie was hooked on crystal meth.
