Local farm and orchard to take my 1 year old

Anonymous
I'll have a day off next week and would like to take my son to a farm to see the animals. Bonus if we can pick apples, pumpkins, etc. What is a good place within 30-60 minutes of DC?

We visited the Homestead Farm in Poolesville, MD last year and had a GREAT time! They have farm animals, apple picking, pumpkin picking and hayrides and the most amazing hot apple cider ever. Check the link: www.homestead-farm.net

The washington post has a section on their website with local orchard information. Google it maybe.

We were here last weekend and it is great, but it gets PACKED on weekends so I would highly suggest getting there early. We got there around 10 and it was fine, but by 11 there were so many people there. It is also a decent walk to the apples, so you might want to bring a wagon or get there early enough to use one of their wheelbarrows.

We'll be going during the week so hopefully it won't be busy. Also, hopefully they are open during the week! Better check.
