I'll have a day off next week and would like to take my son to a farm to see the animals. Bonus if we can pick apples, pumpkins, etc. What is a good place within 30-60 minutes of DC?

We visited the Homestead Farm in Poolesville, MD last year and had a GREAT time! They have farm animals, apple picking, pumpkin picking and hayrides and the most amazing hot apple cider ever. Check the link: www.homestead-farm.net

The washington post has a section on their website with local orchard information. Google it maybe. |
Butler's orchard. |
We were here last weekend and it is great, but it gets PACKED on weekends so I would highly suggest getting there early. We got there around 10 and it was fine, but by 11 there were so many people there. It is also a decent walk to the apples, so you might want to bring a wagon or get there early enough to use one of their wheelbarrows. |
We'll be going during the week so hopefully it won't be busy. Also, hopefully they are open during the week! Better check. |
