Soes anybody out there love lacrosse ... and hockey?

Just curious, I am amazed at the popularity of lacrosse in this area. I know there is a portion of the DCUM crowd that is all about the college track and the edge it brings for a student athlete, but from the point of view of a sports spectacle, it seems very blah to me. Now I grew up a huge hockey fan, and it is still my number one sport to watch and play. Lacrosse just seems to have the same general structure as hockey, only slower and less creative. It also seems to have more of a basketball bent around the net with a lot of monotonous passing back and forth around the holed up defence.

Anyone here both a huge hockey fan and lacrosse fan? I just don't get it ...

Ice hockey or field hockey?

And are you talking to me about men's or women's lacrosse-- they are very different games.

OP - sorry - definitely Ice Hockey. No clue about field hockey.

I know this might be shocking to you, but different people like different sports! Gasp!

Sigh...aging field hockey fan here. I was afraid you were going to say that.

The two sports are not mutually exclusive. In fact, there is actually a lot of commonality between ice hockey and lacrosse. So much so that there is a Caps player who talks about picking up a technique he learned from either watching or playing lacrosse. FWIW, the lax players in our house love to watch ice hockey and go to Caps games.

Umm..yah. Gretzky loved playing lacrosse in the off-season. He's quoted frequently stating this.

I was so happy when my DD stopped playing lacrosse -- I could never figure out where the dang ball was. Give me soccer or baseball or hockey (either one!) any day as a spectator. BORING. Especially women's with all the play stoppages and passing around the goal area.

Here, broaden your mind with a little Sports Illustrated: http://www.si.com/nhl/2016/12/28/nhl-hockey-lacrosse.

And speaking of Wayne Gretzky: http://howtohockey.com/how-will-lacrosse-help-with-hockey/.

Our house hockey team this year had 5 lacrosse kids. There is a lot of overlap. Hockey games for the younger kids are mornings and Lacrosse is Afternoons.

We've got both in the house as well. Son is a U16 goalie still playing a Tier 1 season which juggles with Varsity WCAC lax. Hard as both want first dibs status on commitment. Really like two sport kids as they don't get burned out on one. Younger son plays JV at a different HS and I ref lax. We also have seasons for the caps in our 9th year and go annually to the Frozen Four, so we love both sports.

Yes, and waiting five hours for a goal in soccer is NOT boring? I HATE soccer, it is just too boring to watch.
