Soes anybody out there love lacrosse ... and hockey?

Coming from a good hockey area, hockey is my favorite sport to watch. I always thought of lacrosse as good off-season training for hockey, and the hockey players always dominated over the kids who played year-round lacrosse. Sadly hockey isn't so good around here and I can see why people favor lacrosse if their goal is to provide their kids sport they can keep playing through college, as it's so much easier to play college lax than hockey (more teams, significantly less international competition for NCAA spots). But hockey is still my favorite pro sport to watch by a mile.

My kid has played (ice) hockey since he was 4 (he's now in college), so I really love the game. He picked up lacrosse in 8th grade, and played through HS. His hockey skills and knowledge really translated well over to lacrosse. (He would occasionally get lacrosse penalties for what I internally called "hitting the other guy to hard"). I never got as good an understanding of it as I did of hockey, but its pretty entertaining, in its own way. Its a much slower game than hockey, but almost everything is. There can be a bit of a cat and mouse game with respect to possession, but that is where good defense can help turn the ball over.
