I get 22 days for vacation and accrue sick leave at the rate of 1 day/month, so 12 sick days per year. I keep having babies though, so lately it all goes to maternity leave. |
When I was working FT, I accumulated 4 wks of vacation. But they laid me off before I could take it! So now it's only 1 full week this year and a bunch of mini trips. |
I get 4 weeks per year and can only carry over two weeks. Anything beyond that, I lose. I have lost vacation every year. I try to take vacations but they end up getting canceled or I end up having to work by phone, blackberry, and laptop. It sucks. |
If I had that much leave, I would keep my house cleaner, and things like that. I'd still go away one week a year, spend a few days on religious observance, deal with my kid... but I wouldn't be so tough on myself about a day off here and there. |
4 weeks and unlimited sick time, which I can use for my child or husband. I have over 6 weeks vacation banked because I feel more comfortable knowing I have that time if I really need it. I use about 3 weeks, and maybe 4 sick days a year. I have a flexible schedule and don't need to take half day of vacation if I need to do something. We also have personal time, but it's hard to get it approved. In 11 years, I used 2 days personal leave when our basement flooded and that's it. |
I work at a DC private and in turn get about 15 weeks in total. its amazing and cant life otherwise... but week in mind i make 1/3 what many of you do! |
Same here. |
zero vacation days, zero sick days. I have spent the last six years as a SAHM, now I am a WAHM who is self employed.
I take this back, once in the last six years, my parents took my kids for three days. I guess that means I get three days every six years. |
No, doctor, but when I work, it is 75 hour weeks and some 25 hour weekends. I sleep for most of my vacation. |
You have to remember that the time teacher's get off in the summer is unpaid. We do get great breaks like a week at Christmas, a week for Spring Break, snow days (if we have them), and other holidays here and there. But summer vacation cannot be classified as "paid" leave. Just to clarify. |
23 days PTO a year plus 6 days extended illness and 1 floating holiday. We can carry forward 10 days into the next (calendar) year. |
I work 4 days a week so I don't accrue as much as if I worked five. But, I also don't need as much vacation since I'm not working as much!
But with the reduced schedule I get 4 paid weeks (15 vacation and 5 personal) plus 6 sick days. We also get generous holiday time (usually extra days around Christmas, random ones like Columbus Day, extra days around the 4th of July, etc.) Also, if you take a half day you don't have to count it as vacation - you can count it as admin time which is unlimited, though of course you can't abuse that and do it every week. |

" If we are talking about vacation time actually away from the kids as opposed to away from the job then I have not had a vacation in 5 years! We've done daycare and now have a nanny. With daycare we probably used a good 3 weeks a year in days when it was closed or for sick kids. With a nanny we have been able to start banking some vacation time and we do one week of her choosing and one of ours. We take two full weeks and still take probably around 5-10 days for school events and doctors appointments. |
