Where to have breakfast after crossing the Bay Bridge?

Why not just stop in Annap on the way, traffic shouldn't be heavy, even at 8 or 9.

I'm with OP. Get over the bridge, and then breathe a sigh of relief and let the fun begin.

Girl, please. The hashbrown casserole is amazing!

+1. I dream about it! I wouldn't want ole' foodie snob as a friend.

When was the last time you ate there? I was there a month ago and it was inedible.

It was horrible 5 years ago, 5 months ago, 5 minutes ago and will be horrible five years from today. People love their canned vegetables and fruit. And nothing like a great bowl of soup they is 50% corn starch.

My point was that they don't want chains and if they aren't pressed for time why not just knock out a portion of the drive eat in Annap and still be on their way before traffic picks up?

There is no difference in going across the bridge at 7 or 9 on Saturday morning.

To entertain yourself they give you placemats with the US capitals missing and you have to fill in as many as you can. Heminways might be open but I've only eaten there at dinner. So,, check the website before you go

Holly's was on the other side. Been closed down for a while, though. It was a good place.

Hollys is now a Royal Farms. I really miss their crab soup and fried chicken even though believe it or not, Royal Farms fried chicken is really good.

+1 - this is a great option. Perfectly fine food, not a chain, and should be open.
I'm not a huge fan of Annie's brunch. Sort or reminded me of a hotel breakfast.

Then clearly you have never driven to the DE/MD beaches on a Saturday morning during the summer.

You should do your best to get across the bridge by 8am. 8:30 it starts to get a bit congested (they normally open the single lane on the left around that time to compensate) and 9am it's backed up. We make this drive once a twice a summer for the past 20+ years.

Even once you cross the lanes to get to the beaches go down to one lane (if you're heading to any of the DE beaches), you really only want to stop if you need to pee and grab food quick before moving on.

That or leave super early and make sure you're back on 50 before the crowds make it over the bridge.

If you are up for going a ways toward the beaches, we love Jimmy's Grill in Bridgeville. http://www.jimmysgrille.org/
