http://andrewforarlington.com/ http://fallonforcountyboard.org/ http://www.christiandorsey.org/ http://www.jameslander.org/ http://www.bruceforboard.com/ Schneider and Cristol get my votes. Get out and vote!!! |
| Why Cristol? I feel like she hasn't done her time working on Arlington committees, and I'm feeling like that makes her a wild card. |
|
Fallon cannot work well with people. He thinks too much of his own ideas and does not listen well. Dorsey cannot be trusted -- he is in the Garvey camp, and I feel he treats Arlington more as a progressive social experiment than a community he really cares about. Wiljanen is not serious about campaigning, so why would he be serious on the board? Lander is a light weight.
I have been impressed with Schneider's hard work and passion. I was a total skeptic on Cristol and still have serious concerns about her background. But she seems smart and works hard, and that counts for a lot. |
|
Cristol sounds like a nightmare.
She wants to put affordable housing on park land. NO WAY. The other candidates said they don't think affordable housing should be built on parks, and that park land should be purchased and protected by the county. She's the only one who has said she doesn't think the county should have more parkland and that we should astroturf (?!) the parks we already have. UGH! |
If this is true, this would really trouble me. I attended the last of the forums and heard Christian Dorsey say he would consider using parkland for affordable housing, but the other candidates seemed to give a clear "no way" to that. Did I misunderstand? |
This seems like a really odd reason not to vote for someone. |
This was based on her "yes" answers at the Arlington Co Democratic Debate June 1 to "Should affordable housing be build in parks?" and "Should affordable housing be build county recreation centers?" |
Huh? This is how you build a track record in local government. You volunteer for a task force, head your civic association, participate in an APS planning committee, a county committee... these are the avenues for civic involvement where you show your talent and your commitment to the community. |
I get that. but she doesn't have 0 experience. She's barely 30. And how much more do you know about how the other candidates are going to be on the board from their experience that you wouldn't have been able to glean from a thinner resume? |
Not PP, but what does that mean? The point is that she doesn't have a track record, and the other candidates do. You can certainly tell more about someone's future actions from their past actions than you can from a brief self-promotional resume. This is incredibly obvious, I'm not sure how you're not grasping it. |
|
My votes are for Fallon and Cristol.
Definitely no to Dorsey... we don't need another Garvey. |
|
Wiljanen is the only one who doesn't want to build affordable housing on county-owned land. I live near Ballston and I suspect I share Columbia Pike residents' hesitation to vote for anyone who wants to cram more affordable housing onto the small areas it seems to be acceptable to do so.
Both Wiljanen and Scheider mentioned putting more affordable housing near Lee Hwy, which I think is very fair so there's not a burden on public resources in only a few hotspots in the county. But I assume the richer Arlingtonians who live there will vote against them because of that. |
So you are just going with who WaPo told you to vote for? |
| Who isn't pushing AstroTurf? Wtf? |
Well for example, the principal objection I hear about Fallon is that he's been difficult to work with. How would we get that from a resume? |
