I am enjoying the thread on Real Housewives of NYC and would love to chat about my other favorite show - American Idol!
I think this season has some real strong singers - they were all really good last night! If I had to vote someone off - I guess I would have to say Anoop - although i liked him in previous weeks - he just tried too hard last night. I have to say the blind guy is sweet and talented - but he was lacking last night, too. The girl with the tattooed arm - the pretty one who has a quirky voice and dance moves - she's a little wierd. I think she thinks she's the next Amy Winehouse/Duffy......but the judges like her. I love Paula - i think she is wacko - and that's what makes the show fun too watch! I also think that Simon has been particularly generous with compliments this season - which speaks to how talented they all are. Although it broke my heart when he critiqued Anoop........ Anyone else? |

| I watch it with my DD, although I don't know all their names. Last night I dug the guy singing PYT and the El Salvadorean rocker chic—she is BAD! (in a good way). |

| I can't stand Adam. I didn't think he sounded all that great last night and I really can't get with the skinny jeans/nail polish look on a guy. I don't understand why everyone loves him. I also don't think that Lil is that good and you're right about the blind guy (Scott?) being boring. I LOVED the JT lookalike who played the piano. I wonder what the twist will be tonight. |

| What do you think of the new judge? I don't think she adds anything to show. As to the contestants, I think they have some great singers. I love the JT lookalike too and also the guy who sang PYT. I don't think any of the women are that strong, maybe the rocker 16 year old. |

Most of the time I like her a lot. Her insights into the business side of the music industry are interesting, and I like the fact that she seems smart, sober and coherent . . . as oppsed to Ms. Abdul. WHAT THE HECK IS SHE ON??? Ugh. It's painful to watch. Thank goodness for TiVo so we can fast-forward through her babble. As for the PP who snarked about losing 10 IQ points reading this, what did you expect when you clicked the thread? A discussion about global economics or eastern philosophy? Dude, it's American Idol. We all need a break sometimes! |

FYI: No one watches AI for intellectual stimulation. Sometimes people like to relax, be entertained and watch something family friendly. |

I love AI and besides entertainment - I look at it more from the perspective that these people have a talent I couldn't even dream of having. We have Rock Band and sometimes I do the vocals. One night I did a three-song set and besides just generally being out of tune, by the time we reached the third song my voice was hoarse and exhausted! For some reason it gave me new appreciation of how hard things like singing well really are. Same goes for acting...it is a true talent to be able to act well. I thought everyone did really well last night - except for Anoop and his attempt at Beat It. What was he thinking? I'm glad no one else attempted to touch Billie Jean... Good group this season. |

I love Danny (pyt guy)! And I love love love Simon. Yes, he can be a total douche but he's honest and he knows what works. Paula is a hot mess but I love it. Randy is pretty dull...I am so over his dawg schtick! I don't have strong feelings about Kara, she doesn't bother me at all.

| I don't get whay everyone likes Adam either. I think he is really stuck on himself already and is pretty cocky. The talent in the top round is really good this year I think. Liked the guy that played Human Nature on piano, can't wait to see what else he does this season. Also like Danny Gokey and want to hear some more from Scott, the blind guy. |

| I CAN'T stand Adam either, but he can really sing. I love the blond (Michelle?) who sang Rocking Robin. Not he best performance at all, but I love her. The Spanish rocker girl is awesome! Only 16! |
