But only for PK3 & 4. No admissions beyond those years.

No undesirables with the special snowflakes.

No. Yu Ying doesn't accept past 1st and is in the common lottery.

My kid is one of the "special snowflakes" you reference and I am getting really tired of folks bashing charters that don't open up spaces in the upper primary or lower elementary grades to the lottery wait lists and saying it is because they want to keep some secret formula of students together.

It has nothing to do with keeping the snowflakes in their own little snowglobe. It is about class size, moderating teacher to pupil ratios and maintaining the ability to provide quality education and services to the student body.

My not so special, but very lucky snowflake has been at LAMB since P3 and now in 1st grade and we've seen her class size grow every year - too much so IMO. But it is clearly an example of why the school has to draw a line after which grade they will no longer allow new students.

So stop with projecting elitism on the charter schools and just deal with the fact that your lottery number did not work out for you.

^^ You're attitude is as bad as theirs. Another LAMB parent here. To not show sympathy to families who don't have our luck is heartless. I'm grateful for our slot, but acknowledge the white elephant of how it is a terrible (but best that we have) situation. I hope as parents continue to move into the city, better school choices will happen.

PP here --

I think heartless is a wee bit dramatic.

Yes we are lucky - that is kind of the whole point of a lottery.

I am very clear that my post is coming from a place of frustration in response to the constant bashing of schools not letting folks off wait lists - what I stated in my post were facts as to why schools regulate influx. Some things we have to deal with and move on.

Harsh? Sure. Realistic? Yes. But not heartless.

You forgot one, er two- Bitchy and Nasty! To all other posters, please know LAMB parents are not callous like this icky poster. We're a grateful bunch who knows that all DC kids deserve a stellar education. Our families got lucky and we know it. We understand that frustration with families that don't have that same dumb luck. Just know we know you're children are as valuable as ours and we pray for the day when more great options are out there for all of our kids!

Harsh and heartless are pretty similar. Have some sympathy, my goodness.

What's very clear is that you're a heartless bitch and at Christmas time no less. Just sorry you're a parent. Those poor kids! Well, on the other hand they have their own personal Grinch. Not every kid gets that, right!

That word "wee" coming out of your mouth totally creeped me out. I'm betting you're some kind of perv and definitely not a LAMB parent

And keep in mind that LAMB admissions procedures are mighty cloudy.

Of the hundreds (1000+?) who apply for entry, why is it that high status TFA alums/politicos are getting in?
Anonymous
Is there evidence of that?

^^ No. Just a lot of pot stirrers.
