I'm from NY but can't bring myself to wear white after Labor Day. |
Rail all you want, but wearing white after Labor day is low rent, and I am sorry for how others were brought up. |
That's so stupid, it's giving me a headache. I have a ski jacket that's white. When would you like me to wear that? |
It can be done

It depends on where you are, of course. You can wear white year-round if it's hot all the time. |
As far back as the 1920s, Coco Chanel made white a year-round staple.
That rule is for the trailer crowd to make them feel like they understand ettiquette rules. |
Who has white shoes, anyway? Besides nurses? |
I am wearing my white skirt today and have received many compliments. I don't think the younger generation follow the "white after labor day" rules. |
That's because they have not been brought up right.... |
Hey...I do wear Lycra on my thighs, so I can't be all bad. |
Bahahaha Its SOOOOOOOOO things like this that is about putting on airs. SO TRUE! |
Wear whatever you want, unless Serial Mom will be there... |
The damn rule was no white SHOES after Labor Day. God. If you're going to be a snob, make sure you know at least know what you're talking about. Otherwise that's low rent. |

The only ones who follow this "rule" are old and out-of-date American women. I've had European women look at me like I had 2 heads when I explained the "no white after Labor Day rule". It's ridiculous and not based on anything fashionable. A quick look at any fashion magazine or blog will set you straight.
I love the PP's comment about the trailer trash thinking this is following some sort of etiquette…so true! OP - wear what will make you feel comfortable! However, if you're going to be self-conscious because you'll be around judgers then maybe you should wear something else, but not because wearing white after Labor Day is wrong... |
