I have a business casual event this week with the kind of people who observe the no white after Labor Day rule. Seriously, it is hotter than it has been all summer. Will these ladies still judge me if I wear my nice white skirt? |
Not at all. That "rule" has long since been outdated. |
As long as you remember your gloves, pearls and a fetching little hat you will be just fine ![]() |
Bah. Outdated. There's now "winter" white" and I have a pair of white ponte work dresses that I am totally planning on wearing once it cools down a little. |
Ok -it is a very summery skirt (not like a winter white item at all) but it is still summer out there! These are southern ladies BTW. |
Are you talking about Daughters of the Confederacy 80 year old former debutantes? Maybe they will care. If not, the fact they are southern is not really relevant. |
I wouldn't do it. But I am one of those "old southern women". |
I would judge you, mostly because you know your audience and are not dressing appropriate for that group.
I wouldn't wear white after Labor Day, but I also have enough clothes that I could find another light weight skirt besides white. I'm sure you can too. |
Well, I really don't have many nice things. I will find something else. I am sorry that I asked. |
Honestly, if it were me, I'd wear it just to spite the petty, old fashioned judgers. |
How do you know they observe this "rule"? |
+1 |
That rule is so f'ing dumb. It's hot, it's summertime, wear what you feel good in. |
The only thing I don't wear is white shoes after labor day. I have no issue with white skirts or linen until it cools down a little. After all, it would be dumb to break out the wool and corduroy and flannel now. Too hot! |
Me, too. For crying out loud, OP, wear whatever you want! |
