I don't think there is something meeting all your criteria. For convenience a ring sounds like a good option, but you don't want any hormones... Your best non hormonal options are condoms or IUD.

Other option is the shot which would be every three months, but again doesn't fit all criteria, and can cause you to gain a lot of weight.

Next option female condoms.. But sounds like your DH doesn't want anything interfering with sensation.

Something has to give, IMO.

People will disagree with me, but pulling out is effective if you do it everytime. You could start charting, try to figure out ovulation and avoid those days too.

And the week before.

What would happen to your plans if you got pregnant earlier than 18 months from now?

If you DH won't wear condoms, will he be unwilling to pull out?

Track your ovulation and use the Today Sponge. It is awesome.

And seriously? Your husband is a dick for not being willing to wear condoms for 18 months when you have shouldered the burden of the pill for 10 years.

He is 100% willing to pull out. I'm also not thrilled about condoms.

I would use a combination of withdrawal and rhythm / charting. You can get a lot of period tracking apps that aside from tracking your period, track fertility and ovulation.

Some women use cervical mucus as well to predict ovulations. It takes research and practice and a.. Ahem.. Hands on approach, but is pretty effective. Bonus is when you decide to TTC, you will be very familar with your cycles.

If you're really concerned with pregnancy, you can use a spermicide in addition.

If you're looking for something a little less left up to chance, the diaphragm may be an option. They require some planning though and some women are freaked out about them. Fairly Reliable (with proper use, which also means leaving it in AFTER intercourse), safe, hormone free.

Or you can combine methods.m

Diaphragm? Do people still use them?

We used condoms for 5 years between when I went off BC and when we started TTC. Honestly, it's super effective and not that bad. Your DH needs to man up and do his part.

We use condoms and we chart. Agree that your husband needs to do his part.

OP I'm in your exact situation.

We decided to pull out. We've never had a mess up (where he didn't pull out) and we've never gotten pregnant. It's an effective method if done correctly. I love being off BC!
