So yesterday in line to get coffee at a place i will not mention (you can imagine though a VERY popular coffee place)! Two people in line in front of me start talking about the news and how sad that UN school killing was, someone turns around in front of them and chimes in and says something really inflammatory about Israeli's (even though I kind of agreed with him the way he said it in a public place was really provocative) WELL....that set off a firestorm, another older dude hears this tirade and goes off (a Jew) and before you know it there are 5 hot heads screaming at the top of their lungs, finally the manager comes from the counter as it was making people nervous you never know if someones going to pull out a gun....and he tells them if they cannot stop they need to leave. I guess they all decided (except the Jewish man) that coffee was more important than having a political debate but after he left at least 6-7 people really went to town on how disgusted they are with what Israel is doing and one lady who said she was Jewish said and I quote "its a sad day in history to be a Jew".
Definitely livened up my boring work day. ![]() |
Not surprised. People get opinionated and heated and sometimes one eggs on another. I personally refrain from that discussion with anyone but my husband or parents. Even don't got there with my best friend, so not worth it. It brings out the ugly in a lot of people and I don't want o see it. |
If only people would care that much about the Muslims in Syria or the Christians in Iraq or the children in Nigeria. |
I get it. Israel has gone mad. It will pay a very very catastrophic price. |
I agree with PP. I noticed the rising sentiment in DC too. I was down at 18th & L or thereabouts and passed by one of the guys selling StreetSense. A buddy of his came up to him and started talking about the situation, comparing it to apartheid and berating Obama for not taking action to help the Palestinians.

That makes me sad about the woman who said it was a sad day to be a Jew. ![]() |
I wish people viewed crimes committed by Muslims this way..... |
Well, Jews feel guilty. It's what we do. |
Yes. I'm PP. My family is Muslim. I know what you mean. |

Apparently, not the ones in Israel. |
That's not fair. There are many Israeli Jews protesting the government's latest actions. |
are there? How do you know this? That would restore my faith in Israel but I have not read or heard a shred of this anywhere....where did you hear of this? |
I think in responding to original poster, there is going to be more scenes like, people are rightfully outraged. I am too. I am outraged at what Israel is doing and the massacre they are being allowed to commit. It is a Holocaust all over again.
Where are their sanctions? |
It's in the papers. On line. Everywhere it seems but American media. Sadly you sound just like the people who say Muslims never condemn terrorist acts committed in the name of Islam. They do it ALL THE TIME. But if it doesn't make CNN or FOX, it must not be so. |
