Why don't you educate me? I asked a question. I don't know a lot about this situation but I see plenty of asshole posts like these and worse supporting the Palestinians with no convincing logical arguments, on most of the threads about this topic. They aren't helping convince anyone you are right. |

I am sorry, I was not trying to be an asshole. I said go educate yourself because this is 60 year old conflict and it would be hard to educate someone about it in 5 minutes on a Forum. You need to at least know the basics, how it started, why it is ongoing to understand the current situation. How about you watch this video that I shared yesterday? It's a bit much to expect someone to explain the entire Israel-Palestine conflict in a DCUM post. The Oslo Agreement was meant to lead to such a two-state solution, but was never implemented. Both sides blame the other for the failure of implementation. |

I actually am well versed with the data. The title of this thread is "Israel is doing what Hitler did ...". Is it? Really? Hitler? The negative vibe on this thread and others similar to it seems to me to be too out of line of reasonableness. Hitler - $20M people killed in WW2. Conflicts today in the arab world of arabs killing other arabs - in the 100,000s Not that 1000 people is a small number, but the title of this thread is ridiculous. I am truly sorry you do not see it, as I like your work building such a useful service. Plus, the families of these 1000 people need to ask for the root reason for their unfortunate death. In my view, it is the result of a severe lack of good leadership. Best wishes. |

Holy moving the goalposts, Batman! You never even mentioned the subject of this thread or Hitler in your earlier post. You only compared what is happening in Gaza to what is happening elsewhere in the middle east. Now, you want to compare a week in Gaza to years in the entire Arab world, plus Hitler. I would argue that 1000 dead over this period of time is comparable to bad weeks in other conflicts. I've argued myself in this forum that it is wrong to compare what Israel is doing to what Hitler did. If you want to argue that 1000 dead is not important because Hitler was worse, or whatever it is you are trying to argue, go ahead. But, don't act like you were arguing something completely different when someone calls you on it. |

An average Israeli copes very well because he or she has been taught since childhood that the world is against us and we need to defend ourselves and this land is ours to begin with and Palestinians, there is no such thing, and besides, the Middle East is full of Arab countries, why don't they go and live there? |

Sorry that you feel that the goalposts are being moved. The only reason I posted is I was provoked by the title. Plus, this really is not a game, you know. This is an important argument and lives are at stakes in the big picture. A little background: My mother was born in Iraq. A bit after Israel creation, law in Iraq changed such as Jews will not be able to own property. They had to leave, or else. My mom (as a teenager) and her parents had to live in a tent for 3 years as refugees in Israel - the place that accepted them. So yes, there were about 500K refugees on the Arab side, but there were about that number refugees on the Jewish side coming from Arab countries (my dad btw had to leave Egypt) into Israel. A quick comment before I get to the important part: I appreciate the Arab countries for forcing the Jews to move but not killing them. This is much better than what happen to my wife's family - almost all were killed in Poland by Hitler. The core of the problem can be found in leadership, or lack thereof. In the bottom-line test of time over the last 65 years, it seems the Israeli side had good enough leadership that helped it make a first-world country with standard of living higher than about the lower third of Europe (no small fit), and a country at the edge of technology and modernization. I hope the Palestinian side will get better leadership as with it they could do as well. But their leadership seems stuck, interested in killing Israelis more than they are interested in the future of their own children. One day, this will change and great things can happen in Gaza. Check you data about the latest tunnels. As opposed to the tunnels into Egypt that had economic reasons, the current tunnels had only a single reason - to kill as many civilian Israelis as possible. Check what kind of resources were required to do that, and imagine what could have been done positively with the same kind of resources invested in the people of Gaza. One can always blame others. My parents did not blame anybody. They worked hard all their lives (they are in their 80s) and built a country that provides them good life. The Arab countries started from better conditions (Egypt or Syria did not need to fight for their own survival), and look where they are today - all of it a question of leadership (or lack thereof). |
