Just saw Frost/Nixon and found it much more compelling than I expected. I thought it would be static and talky like a play, and it was talky--but good talk!, and it moved along quickly.

I just watched Grand Turino, and it was really, really good. I was intrigued the whole time.

It sounded great, but I don't think I could make it through the violence, even though I understand the sequences are brief.

The Visitor is great. Not very known but great story and acting.

I agree. We watched it at home this weekend and it was really better than I expected.

Re: violence in Slumdog Millionaire - honestly, I hardly remember those scenes, since the power of the film is in its other aspects. Yes, there is some violence, but it is really worth seeing. And I have NEVER been a fan of the "who wants to be a millionaire" gameshows -- this movie is about so much more....

Seapking of The Wrestler, what the heck has happened to Mickey Rourke ?
I remember having a serious crush on him in the 80's after 9 1/2 weeks came out. Now, he looks like a bloated clown.
Too much Botox and Restylene I'm guessing. Yuck.

Yeah I thought it was a botched face lift but he said his face is smashed up from boxing.

loved slumdog and Grand Torino.

I heard Benjamin Button was LONG. I cannot sit through another epic film, no matter how good.

Slumdog Millionaire - feel good movie!
The Reader - thought provoking and excellent acting
Doubt - Best movie of 08 in my opinion, excellent acting, dialogue, cinematogrophy and direction
The Wrestler - very violent but poignant story, Mickey Rourke is fascinating to watch
Benjamin Button - a little hokey - but - wow - what a tearjerker, esp if you are a mom
