Anyone else have a love hate relationship with coffee?

That is me. Then I prefer having a bad mood for my heart burn than a bad mood because of "no coffee lovely effect".

Absolutely. I've been known to refer to coffee as 'liquid happy.'

And on the additional upside coffee /caffeine intake is associated with a lowered risk of Parkinson's. Family history of that here, so will keep on with my coffee affair.

I wish that were true in our case.

Italian dad
daily espresso drinker
died from Parkinson's . . .

PP here. So sorry to hear that. My dad was recently diagnosed. And now I feel guilty for pressuring him to quit smoking. Shitty disease all around.

Ambivalence? I switched to half-caf, and life is grand.

I look forward to my morning cup as I go to sleep at night.

I WILL NEVER QUIT COFFEE.

Even if I've had my fill, I feel sad when the coffee maker turns off...

Love everything about coffee except the horrible breath it leaves behind.

Coffee is my main success story in the art of moderation. I am very sensitive to it in terms of withdrawals if I go without, but I love it and as food pleasures go, there's good science behind it helping more than hurting. So, I have two cups every day, at breakfast and after lunch, no more no less, and for me that gets me the positives without the negatives. Now that I'm pregnant again, only the breakfast cup. Sometimes a decaf latte in the afternoon. I love my coffee milky but unsweetened.
My husband and I are just a bit crazy about our coffee, I must say. We home roast and own a collection of specialized grinders and brewing equipment. There are far worse food obsessions in terms of health!

Yes totally. I am the same way. I love it. I love the taste, I love sitting at my desk at work or relaxing at home with a cup. I love how it wakes me up (don't feel good until I have it). But if I overdo it (and I almost always do) I hate the way I feel and can't sleep. And yet, I go back for more the next day.

Thanks - It is a terrible disease.

Let him enjoy his time. But hopefully, the meds will allow him to stay active for a few more years.

much luck

Hate: increase in anxiety, makes me neurotic, difficulty falling asleep (even if I only drink it first thing in the morning), too much coffee with too much sleep deprivation can make me a loony tune, coffee withdrawal headache if I don't have it every day

I wean myself off from time and time and I am much more mellow. I sleep better but I feel down when my ability to get work done and take care of things at home suffers. If I go off it for months the neuroticness almost disappears, but then the high I get when I start drinking it again is amazing.

No, I won't drink decaf because that to me is like nonalcoholic beer. It might taste good, but what's the point? Half-caf just leads me on the road back to needing coffee.I know there are worse addictions, but dam you coffee!

Whoa. Are you me?

Coffee I make at home, love. Starbucks, sometimes a necessary evil if I'm out and about. That stuff makes my gut explode if I don't have a full stomach. I definitely can't have coffee after about 2-3pm.
