Do you believe Neil Armstrong?

It bugs me that they put believing there was a conspiracy about the JFK assassination in with that lineup of nuttery. I am surprised anew every time I realize people don't know there's no way LHO could have acted alone.

And while I believe Osama is dead and now dissolved into the sea, there's a part of me that wishes we had kidnapped him and he was just held under a mountain in Nevada. Seems more fitting for such a terrible person than just dying, you know?

Here's a link to a blog post about the moon landing conspiracy - NASA hired filmmaker Stanley Kubrick to fake it.

We all like to think that we are rational and logical evaluators of evidence. So people are always surprised when someone doesn't come to the same conclusion they did about something.

Communities of conspiracy theorists find each other on the web now, and share their theories, analyses, etc., and reinforce each other's belief about their given conspiracy theory to the point where belief in that theory becomes a part of the person's identity.

Do you see how they wrote pages and pages, but provided no evidence that Kubrick actually did it?

People also believe President Obama is a Muslim and that vaccines cause autism and that climate change is a hoax. Not putting my eggs in those baskets.

Man made climate change is a hoax. Even al gore doesn't believe it or he would downsize his homes and auto fleet to be a good example. The most hilarious hoax ever. I don't see anybody selling beach front homes in anticipation of being underwater . People who put time and energy into global warming, climate change, climate disturbance are cultists.

You mean cultists like the US military? http://www.nbcnews.com/news/military/climate-change-real-pentagon-sure-thinks-so-n101701

Yep^^. The military is taking marching orders from screwball cultists since 2008.

I have always thought the pictures of the Apollo looked fake.

Apparently, a video of Kubrick's wife no longer exists. She claims he faked the footage.

Yeah, people didn't do anything in Genesis 5, either. Was that a hoax, too?

Honestly, that was your takeaway of that awful, awful web page??? Can't you see how many obvious logical errors he makes?

Oh, dear. You can just say you don't know much about the subject and leave it at that, rather than pretend to be some cold, hard marshall of the facts.

If that makes you more comfortable with your particular conspiracy theory, ok, I don't know much about why you believe there was a conspiracy to kill Kennedy.

However, what I said was consistent with the psychological and sociological research on conspiracy theories, in general, and if I (or anyone else) were to try to reason with you based on the facts about the Kennedy assassination, the research says that would more than likely harden your belief and make you adhere to it even more strongly. (You might be the exception, but the research shows that's the general result.)

Global warming is at least a profitable hoax , providing a good living for the hoaxers.
The other hoaxes are probably only half true and don't advance behavior control.

Unlike the coal and petroleum industries, which were set up as not-for-profits, run by generous, marginally paid do-gooders, and have only the best for humanity as their goal.

You're right, of course. Shame on those greedy scientists for casting any doubt on the munificence of the energy industry and those who run it. How could any of us doubt the public spirit of companies that makes billions in profits each year and pay their senior executives high six and seven figure salaries (compared to the vast salaries of the greedy scientists who might break $100k).
